PROVENANCE: The revival of medieval forms around 1880 drew some inspiration from monumental inscriptions, perhaps through a contemporary obsession with the funereal. And we see in this ‘Cabalistic’ – a name taken from the mystic Cabbal – forms closer to the traditional Gothic. William W Jackson again, for MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan in 1879. Developed at the same time as ‘Campanile’.
