PROVENANCE: The style here is ‘French Clarendon XXX Condensed’, first shown in America in 1879. There were two styles of the French – ‘Antique’, with unbracketed serifs; and ‘Clarendon’, with bracketed serifs. Although we see these types on much American print back in the day, their origin date back to France. The Q is a particularly recognisable character.
INCLUDED: 52 individual high-resolution JPG images, featuring two distinct variations of each letter of the alphabet. The first presents a fuller, densely inked print, while the second features a lighter press with uneven pressure, creating a more distressed and characterful appearance. Find out more
