PROVENANCE: An unnumbered and unnamed Serie from Roman Scherer, Lucerne, Switzerland. First decade of the twentieth century. This company produced a range of these Jugendstijl (Art Nouveau) types, changing their organic forms with the freedom and dexterity of their pantograph router. Most of these designs had disappeared from their repertoire by 1930.
