PROVENANCE: The Grotesque and Sans Serif forms are, probably, the largest and most extensive group within the classification of wood type. They can become condensed or elongated. Variation in design is evident across most of the manufacturers, this form, introduced in 1892, is ‘Sans Condensed (Series 53)’ by Robert DeLittle of York, England.
